Senior QA Software Engineer

Job Description

  • Design, procure and/or build new test tools and platforms to support the QuickBase service.
  • Support and enhance existing test tools and platforms.
  • Develop and support automated test scripts for functional testing, installation verification, and burn-in.
  • Work with other Intuit teams to explore and utilize existing QA test tools and platforms.
  • Establish and monitor test result trends over time to contribute to capacity and performance planning.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the customer support team. Analyze, troubleshoot, and perform root cause analysis on customer reported problems in order to isolate and document service defects.
  • Train other members of the QuickBase team on utilization of QA testing tools and processes.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Recent 5+ years test and tools development experience in web and/or software industry.
  • C/C++ and Perl expertise.
  • Ability to communicate test requirements proactively to contribute to design requirements.
  • Extensive test software/scripting experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with usability testing a +.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Self-directed.

Software Engineer

  • Engaging directly with product management & customers to confirm that requirements are clear.
  • Using judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among customer needs, business constraints and technological realities. This includes comparing and prioritizing alternative engineering approaches to meeting requirements in a way that allows for future growth, supportability and maintainability.
  • Developing plans for delivery of functionality by building high-level architectures and designs. This includes contributing to developing project estimates, building QA test and documentation plans.
  • Delivering features with appropriate levels of quality and working directly with others to ensure deliverables meet customer functionality and quality expectations.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships across business functions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of development of web based products.
  • Must have strong experience with the following languages and technologies: C++, Visual Basic, JavaScript, HTML, IIS, MS SQL Server, XML DOMs and perl.
  • Must understand relational databases and data modeling (1-to-many / many-to-many relationships, normalization, etc), and how to apply to common business problems.
  • Should understand building, debugging and deploying VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) applications written for MS Word, MS Project and MS Access.
  • Need to be able to build and debug client side applications delivered as HTML pages using the following technologies: DHTML, JavaScript, XML, XPath, AJAX
  • Should be able to manipulate XML DOMs in VB, VB.Net and Java environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including communicating tactical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work internally, across developer, quality assurance, documentation and customer support teams.
  • Leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to meet commitments, build consensus, negotiate resolutions and garner respect from other team members.
  • Demonstrates self-directed, proactive and proactive approach to tackling problems.
