You probably know that for table views the header at the top of the table and the first column with content stay fixed instead of scrolling off the browser window.
Well we extended this facility to Timeline, Crosstab and Summary Views last night. I think this will make these views, particularly Timelines, even more useful. Unfortunately, this facility currently works only in Internet Explorer.
Let me know what you think.

Since several of you mentioned that you would like to see more Webinars to help with learning best practices, I have a follow-up question as to your top 10 list of topics. You can be group specific, like "Solutions for sales teams", or features specific, like "Best practices for Grid Edit", or even open ended like "Stump the Developer". But, please share your best ideas for Webinars.
Just FYI, we are working with different teams at Intuit to have them lead Webinars and show their applications. I’ve already gotten agreement from our SOX compliance team, Community Giving/Volunteer team, an engineering team (our Web Commerce Group), and a finance team (budget tracking). We are planning our first one in January and hope to do one each month after that. If you want to volunteer to share what you have done in a Webinar, tell me!

Wow, with the Fall release released and the holidays upon us, we are getting heads down into our Spring release. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided on an overall theme of simplicity. We’ve been moving at such a breakneck speed over the past few years, we want to make sure we are stepping back, keeping your big picture in mind and making sure we are as simple as we can be. So, I have some questions for you on this related to where we could improve, but also giving us some ideas of where we’ve done it well… so we can emulate that!
- What can we simplify? What do you think is already "the bomb" in simplicity?
- Where do you find yourself stumbling? And when gliding through?
- What makes you say "Why didn’t they just do…"? Or "Wow, I loved that they did…!!!"
- When do your users complain about doing something? When do they gasp with delight on how easy something was to do?
- Where do you have to repeat something several times to get the job done? When is it done before you’ve had time to blink?
That should get us started. Feel free to throw in any other thoughts around this theme or others.
Hope you are all enjoying a nice holiday season!

Training, providing feedback, idea sharing, learning what’s ahead, putting faces with names… these are all great objectives for User’s Group meetings. We are thinking about hosting a QuickBase User’s Group meeting, and we’d love your feedback on:
- Content: Training would be the main focus area, with training for beginner through advanced on QuickBase application development, application management and optimization, user and account administration can be covered, and possibly even some talks on how to train end users. We’d love to have you be center stage too, where y’all share your tips and tricks. In addition, we’ll provide both a look into how we see the future and the opportunity for you to give us feedback on that future. What do you think? What else would you liek to see?
- Timing: What length of time, days of week, and season works best? And how often would you like to see this? Annually?
- Location: I lean towards a live conference, but if y’all have seen other formats (web conferences, series of webinars, etc.), I’d love to learn from you what’s been the most useful for you. If we go with live, I think we’d be best hosting our first user’s group in Boston. Does that make sense for y’all?
What other things come to mind when you consider going to a conference? How many folks from your organization would be interested in attending? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! And if you’d rather send those thoughts directly to me, Intuit’s convention for email addresses is firstname_lastname@intuit.com.
Signed…
