We launched a new version of QuickBase over the weekend (6am EST on Saturday to be exact.) The release delivers a range of new features that even Santa would be proud of. Included is QuickBase access for the iPhone and a cross-application reports tab on your My QuickBase page.
And there’s more… you will find new tools for improving control, manageability and security in your applications.
iPhone Access
Improve productivity with anytime, anywhere iPhone QuickBase access
View critical reports, manage tasks, find contacts and more
Cross Application Reporting
Increase visibility across your QuickBase applications with the new Reports tab on the My QuickBase page
Create your own “favorite reports” page to easily access the most common reports you use across all your QuickBase applications
Security
Add an optional layer of security to protect your application. With new Application Tokens, an unauthorized person cannot create API calls to your application
Don’t want everyone in your company to see your applications? Hide your applications from the searches fellow employees conduct from the My QuickBase page
Manageability
More easily perform data backup or application testing by optionally not copying file attachments when cloning applications
Improve data accuracy and reduce user errors by limiting the number of characters end users can store in a text field
New API calls will be available to help manage users and roles
Other
See What’s New for more information. Release Notes with help topics will be available in the QuickBase KnowledgeBase with the upgrade
I love the cross application reporting. That will be a great tool. I am excited to see mobile device support, although we are all BlackBerry users here.

I like most of the new features, and thank you for those, but I have a concern over this new App Token feature. This seems like a barrier for potential customers who may be trialing add-on software for QuickBase, such as my SendToQuickBase that integrates Outlook with QuickBase. My software allows a user to select any app (and table) they wish to save Outlook data into. Now with App Tokens, they must also be sure to add my Token to their app before this will even work, one more hurdle they must leap. I appreciate the security issues, but I wish there was another technique besides App Tokens.

Is there a way to move the left column on the My Quickbase home page back to the right? I often have several open windows on my screen and this not good use of the real estate on my screen.

For *YEARS* we have been begging you to allow transitive data lookups. This would save time in lookups, reduce the size of applications, make applications more secure and make it easier to program. The iphone hasn’t even existed for that long and you place A # 1 priority on making the database available on that?
Quickbase is probably the only relational database on the planet that doesn’t allow for this common, obvious and ESSENTIAL usability and they refuse to incorporate it in favor of making QB available on the latest fad?
This latest round of updates is pretty weak and ignores the basics. Will the spring update actually start addressing and improving the core functionality?

Now with this update, will Quickbase been adding a chat/IM feature like used with Facebook? This would be extermly helpful in my line of business and I am sure with others.

Hi Mangesh, it may not have gotten as many votes on User Voice as other features. If any updates are made to this feature, User Voice will indicate.
