Colorful Icons Make QuickBase Faster

I am so excited my hands are trembling! We have loaded 2500 really awesome graphics to our servers so you can colorize and enliven your QuickBase applications. Now you can display status, priority and virtually any condition with rich colorful eye-catching icons. There are 502 icons loaded in five standard pixel sizes 16×16, 24×24, 32×32, 48×48 and 128×128.

The cool part of this announcement is that these graphics will load quickly and are not subject roles and permission checking in QuickBase. The result… large reports can now update many graphics without delay.

Below is a sampling of some of the icons:

One example of how to use the graphics in your QuickBase:
1. Create a formula text field for one of your tables.
2. Browse and select from any of the 2500 icons linked at https://www.quickbase.com/db/9kaw8phg?a=ShowPage&pageid=134.
3. Right-click and copy the URL locations of the graphics and insert them into the html code below.
4. Don’t forget to check the “Allow some HTML tags” checkbox.
5. Include the new fields on your reports.

"In-Progress","<img src=\"https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/229-rect_yellow.png\">",
"Completed","<img src=\"https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/228-rect_green.png\">",
null)

To access all 2500 icon graphics use this link:

View preview, search or drill down into graphics of various sizes, right-click over the graphic and size you like and save the URL link for use in dashboards, forms and formula text fields.

We talk about how you can use these graphics in many of our 10 weekly live webinars. You are always welcome. http://quickbase.intuit.com/webinars/

    Kirk,
    The icons look great! Can you make that menu visible in the Support application? Thanks, Dave

    I have just tried to use these icons in one of my apps and I agree with the previous post – can we have the table that contains these icons visible in the support application.

    Also, can the current report be changed to have just the “24″ size of the icon, and that way it would list more on a screen. Its way too difficult to see all the choices. You have to page forward through 11 screen to see them all.

    Thx

    It has a icons.gif displayed so you can preview the icons as well as search and links so you can zero in on just the size you like.

    OK, that was a fabulous step forward to show all the icons in that compact format. Well done.

    My only remainaing “complaint” is that you need to know that magic URL (which currently is only available as a link off the Blog) to get to it.

    Can you make that table visible or at a minimum put that link on the home page of the “QuickBase Support Center” Application so that we can find that wonderful Dashboard view of the icons without having to search the Blog for the magic URL.

    Thx

    OK, Kirk pointed out to me that there is a link to that dashboard page near the top of the screen to the right. i had missed seeing it – so everything is good.

    How do you create a legend to add to the system to show what each icon represents?

    Alexis:
    Thanks for the post. Not sure specifically what you are referring to. Can you elaborate? We provided the listing graphically so you can see them, search them and chose which size you like. Let us know how we can improve it. Thanks! Kirk Trachy

    Hi Kirk, I think Alexis is asking how do you show, maybe somwhere on a form, what each possible icon represents. IE Red Circle = Past Due etc.
    If that is the case…One way to do this is by inserting a text form element and including the following html…

    <table border=1 cellpadding=10>
    <tr>
    <td>
    Legend

    <img src=”https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/222-point_green.png” /> In Progress
    <img src=”https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/221-point_red.png” /> Past Due
    <img src=”https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/220-point_gray.png” /> Inactive
    <img src=”https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/230-rect_blue.png” /> Completed
    <img src=”https://images.quickbase.com/si/16/233-rhomb_red.png” /> Issues
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    What is noteworthy about this application is that it works natively with QuickBase. Instead of accessing QuickBase via the iPhone’s web browser, MCF Tech has leveraged QuickBase’s API to present QuickBase applications with native iPhone functionality.

    Can we get additional icons added?  such as green star, yellow triangle pointing down and Red Hexagon?
