We had a great opportunity to join other Intuit products last week in Boston and New York for Intuit’s Innovation Gallery Walks showcase Intuit’s most innovative products and concepts for press and industry analysts to feast upon. Intuit is an innovation powerhouse and it was impressive to see new developments in payments, personal finance, small business benefit packages and new mobile offerings all at once. The video below provides a great overview of the events and the ideas featured there:
For QuickBase, we were showing off our Freecycle@Work offering – a free application any organization to useto start a reuse community among employees. If you are new to the concept of freecycling, it’s a way for folks to give away items they no longer need rather than sending them to the landfill. Below I’m pictured at our booth (on the left) along with Intuit’s Director of Corporate Sustainability, Rupesh Shah, who has been instrumental in helping champion Freecyle@Work across Intuit.
For those familiar with building applications in QuickBase, the Freecycle@Work application is a fairly simple five table application with three roles. The primary table is posts with related tables consisting of members, requests for items, office locations, and moderator emails. The basic app is something an intermediate QuickBase user could build easily.
Why are we giving away a free QuickBase application? Well, a couple of reasons. First, Intuit is a green company and we want to make it easier for our customers to be green. I’m working with our Director of Sustainability and sponsoring the Freecycle Network (the world largest reuse community, diverting more than a landfill every day) to engage as many people as possible in the act of reuse.
Second, this is a great way for us to expose a whole bunch of people to a native QuickBase application, showcase the power of a simple database application and maybe sell a couple of seats of our product along the way. If you haven’t yet, check it out and feel free to sign up. Seriously, no strings attached, just the opportunity to be a green leader at your organization.
