There are a variety of situations where text that is pasted into QuickBase from Microsoft Word can have unexpected consequences. Here are a few known issues:

If you find yourself in a situation where you constantly have to add new fields to a table in order to keep up with future dates there is a much easier way to manage this. You may have imported your data from excel and each column represented a different day in your spreadsheet, as a result you have countless numbers of check box or text fields for all past and future dates in QuickBase.

No. Setting permissions to "Everyone on the Internet" means that anyone with access to the QuickBase Web site has access to that application. You should only use this feature for applications you consider public.

Building Reports in QuickBase to help you manage this reporting requirement can be a little tricky, but with some well-built formula fields in your data table, you can get it done.

This would occur if the spreadsheet's or database's CSV (comma separated values) parser is substandard. Excel comes with an excellent CSV parser that knows how to deal with hard returns (aka line breaks, paragraph markers, etc.) that are embedded within the contents of a field.

1. I have a time of day field set up as military time but when it exports to Excel it converts to normal time and adds AM/PM.

For example, 18:00 exports as 6:00 PM.

2. I have a duration field that is exporting differently than on the view.

For example, 2:30 exports as 2.5 hours.

It is possible and quite easy to import data into QuickBase in such a way that it will update existing records. The key to being able to do this is that you must include the key field so that QuickBase knows exactly what records to update. By default the key field is the "Record ID" field.

You should go through these steps to export then reimport records:
