How do I create an automatically increasing sequential number or alpha-numeric string?

If you create a formula numeric type of field, you can reference the built in field Record ID # to increment your number automatically. If you're not familiar with creating new fields, the following link explains how.

How come when I export from a user field I get these negative numbers enclosed in angle brackets right after the name, email address or screennames?

The information in angle brackets uniquely identifies the user so that upon reimporting into QuickBase, QuickBase can unambiguously set the user field to the proper value.
