How can I make and test changes to my QuickBase application?
If you have a QuickBase Enterprise account, you can take advantage of the Developer Sandbox feature. The Developer Sandbox provides you with a safe environment in which to try out your changes, without affecting users or data in your live application.
In general, you create a sandbox application from a live application. The sandbox application is an identical copy of your live application; you'll make and test your changes in the sandbox application and then apply those changes to the live application.
Keep the following things in mind when you're working with a sandbox application:
• QuickBase "locks" the live application when you create a sandbox application. No one can make any changes to the live application while it's in this locked state.
• Once you apply changes from the sandbox application, QuickBase automatically unlocks the live application.
• QuickBase also locks some things in the sandbox application. For instance, QuickBase won't let you delete fields and tables that existed in the live application when you created the sandbox application. You will be allowed to make some changes, though. For example, you can change some field properties in the sandbox application.
Full details about using the Developer Sandbox are described in the QuickBase online help: http://www.quickbase.com/help/default.html#using_sandbox.html
