How can I track who changes a record, beyond the single "Last Modified By" built-in field, which only keeps track of the most recent edit?
While QuickBase only displays the name and a time/date stamp of the most recent person who has changed a record, you can use a text field with the append only option turned on to keep track of changes made to the record.
Step 1. Create a field of type 'Text - Multi-line'. The following link explains how to create a field.
https://www.quickbase.com/help/adding_a_field.html
Step 2. Enter the field properties for your new text field. The link below explains how to access a field's properties.
https://www.quickbase.com/help/changing_field_properties.html
Step 3. Within the field properties, check the box called Log entries. The following link explains the display settings for this kind of field.
https://www.quickbase.com/help/default.html#append_fields.html
Step 4. Create a form rule to detect field changes when the record is saved, and write some information to the append-only field you created.
https://www.quickbase.com/help/default.html#form_rules_based_on_record_s...
Congratulations! You now have a field that records the name with a time/date stamp of each person who has edited a record.

Is this only for entry for the entire record?

I believe this works for field only and not for the entire record. I'm interested in tracking edits/changes for the entire record.
Please help!

Hi Christine -
Good catch -- we had left out the most important step! See the revised article, above. This article is also on our radar to add an example or two to, so look for those changes in the next few weeks.
Thanks for writing in,
