Our Knowledge Base covers a wide variety of technical topics, from the basic to the complex.

I am trying to run a report sorted and grouped on the day of the week. How can this be done?

Create a report with a custom formula column of type "Text". Use the following formula:

Case(DayOfWeek([Your Date Field's Name]), 0, "Sunday", 1, "Monday", 2, "Tuesday", 3, "Wednesday", 4, "Thursday", 5, "Friday", 6, "Saturday")

Then sort and group on the custom column.

This will put the days in alpha order, however if you want them in chronological order you'll need to use this formula:

Case(DayOfWeek([Your Date Field's Name]), 0, "1. Sunday", 1, "2. Monday", 2, "3. Tuesday", 3, "4. Wednesday", 4, "5. Thursday", 5, "6. Friday", 6, "7. Saturday")

I am trying to run a report in quickbase

I am finding it hard to run a report. Nothing is coming up once I select the fields that I want.

re: running a report

Hi --

There are several reasons for the behavior you describe: the report you're running has a filter criteria that filters out all the records (i.e., returns nothing), you don't have permissions to access the data in the report, or the table you're running the report on has no data yet. Try looking at the "List All" report for the table you're running the report on. If no data displays from the List All report, it's probably one of the last two items I listed. Try contacting your app manager for help. If the "List All" report shows data, then it might be your report's filter criteria. See this help topic for more information on filtering data: https://www.quickbase.com/help/default.html#filter.html

Reporting looks simple enough, but it provides many options and people want to look at their data in many ways, so it gets complicated quickly. If you've tried the suggestions above and still have questions, contact Support: http://quickbase.intuit.com/support/portal.

help

i am running the report and I am geting this error any help:

Please check the syntax of your entire formula. Possible culprits are a mismatched set of parentheses, missing quotes, or an extra bracket.

Case(Monday([[Date sourced]  ]), 0, "Sunday", 1, "Monday", 2, "Tuesday", 3, "Wednesday", 4, "Thursday", 5, "Friday", 6, "Saturday")

Any help would be appreciated
