What do I need to know to upgrade to the New QuickBase?

 

What is the New QuickBase?

Our upcoming QuickBase release is different from our other releases. We've worked hard to give QuickBase a new, streamlined UI - and that means lots of changes for you, our customers.

  1. New, streamlined navigation

  2. Instant filtering and searching

  3. Instant mobile apps, with no coding

  4. Unique account URLs

  5. Unified help search and in-product access to the QuickBase Community

Why is this release different?

This release gives you a chance to preview the changes with your apps and your data, then decide when to complete the upgrade. At first, only account admins, app managers, and realm admins have access to the preview. If you're a user in some other role, you'll need to be invited in.

I manage an account or realm. What do I need to do?

Once you're previewing the new QuickBase:

  • Read about What's New and Changed.

  • Coordinate with your QuickBase app managers to make sure their apps are ready for the upgrade. Use the in-product Upgrade Center to track app status.

  • If you manage apps in addition to your other work with QuickBase, see I manage one or more apps. What do I need to do?

  • If you're an account admin for an account using a www.quickbase.com URL, you decide when to permanently upgrade to the new QuickBase. How?

  • If you're a realm admin, you decide when to do the upgrade. How?

I manage one or more apps. What do I need to do?

Once you're previewing the new QuickBase:

  • Read about What's New and Changed

  • Take the time to familiarize yourself with the new QuickBase.

  • If you use www.quickbase.com, you'll have a new custom account URL after the upgrade. To check your apps for potential upgrade issues, see How will the new account URL affect my apps?

  • Use the link in the in-product banner to invite some of your app admins and users to the preview. They'll be able to test their processes ahead of the upgrade.

  • Prepare your apps for the upgrade to the new QuickBase. (See page 7 in the linked PDF.)

  • Update any training materials you've created and arrange to train your app users.

  • When you're done, tell your account (or realm) admin that your apps are ready for the upgrade.

How will the new account URL affect my apps?

Script access to apps in your account must use the account URL, and in-app references to www.quickbase.com must be replaced with relative links before completing the upgrade.

Note: These steps are only needed if you access QuickBase using www.quickbase.com.

  1. Switch to the new QuickBase preview.

  2. In each app you manage, click Check this app for upgrade issues in the banner at the bottom of the page.

  3. You'll be shown a page that identifies the in-app locations and external API calls (if any) that use www.quickbase.com to access your app.

  4. Identify and fix each issue, if necessary.

How do I complete the upgrade?

If you're an account admin or realm admin, just go to the new QuickBase preview and click Complete the upgrade in the banner at the bottom of the page. You'll be taken to the Upgrade Center page, where you can see the status of all your apps. When all the apps show a status of , you're ready to proceed. Click the big green I'M READY button to upgrade permanently.

What can I expect after I upgrade an account?

  • Publicize the new account URL to all your users. When they sign in, they will see the new QuickBase.

  • The option to switch back to old QuickBase will no longer be available.

  • Script access to apps in your account must use the account URL; access through www.quickbase.com will be blocked. See How will the new account URL affect my apps? above.

What can I expect after I upgrade a realm?

  • All your users will see the new QuickBase when they sign in.

  • The option to switch back to old QuickBase will no longer be available.

  • The account URL changes you've been hearing about don't affect your realm URL. That stays the same!

Hi Robert,

 

You should be taken back to Classic QuickBase when you click 'go back to the old QuickBase' in the blue upgrade bar. If you enter a case via the Support Portal at https://quickbase.intuit.com/support/portal/ a support rep will be happy to take a look at why you're not able to switch back to Classic QuickBase.

switching back and forth between quickbase and new quickbase

This is really annoying.  I click on preview new quickbase and make changes.  When I click "go back to old quickbase" it will not allow it.  It constantly goes back to the new quickbase.  Why
