Create a report with a custom formula column of type "Text". Use the following formula:

Case(DayOfWeek([Your Date Field's Name]), 0, "Sunday", 1, "Monday", 2, "Tuesday", 3, "Wednesday", 4, "Thursday", 5, "Friday", 6, "Saturday")

Then sort and group on the custom column.

Here is an example of a formula that returns a different price for each of several kinds of fruit. The data type of the result is Number.

case ([Fruit Name], "Apples", .5, "Pears", 1, "Berries", 4)

If the [Fruit Name] doesn't match any of the cases, null is returned. To return a default value when there is no match, add one more Number argument to the end.

Here is a formula that will calculate the third Friday of the current month:

NextDayOfWeek( FirstDayOfMonth(Today()) - Days(1), 5 ) + Weeks(2)

It can be broken down to the following steps:

1) find the first day of the month containing today
2) go back one day to the last day of the previous month
3) find the next Friday (the number 5 represents Friday)

Let's assume the Date field is called "My Date" and that the Time of Day field is called "My Time of Day". Let's also assume that you want the display format to be:

08-17-2001 01:01:01

Then the text formula to display the date and the timestamp fields together in one cell would be:

[My Date] & " " &

Right("0" & Hour([My Time of Day]), 2)

& ":" &

This can happen because the field property for [num1] called "Treat blank as zero in calculations" is checked. This is checked by default, so you can do things like add and subtract lists of values which contain some blanks.

I have values for four fields representing a quarterly balance in an account. They are filled in successively over time, so at any given time they may not all be filled in.
---

This is a good place to use the Nz() function. It allows you to use a value if it is not null, but if it is null use an alternate value instead. You can cascade them to successively check each field.

There are two techniques. The first technique is to convert the field from what ever type (i.e. numeric, text, date) it is to a formula field of the same type (i.e. formula-numeric, formula-text, formula-date). Then convert it back to the type it was. This erases the contents of the field. To learn how to change the type of a field please read the following:

If you place a view link field on your Exact Forms MS Word template this turns into a table with no grouping or subtotals. If you want grouping and subtotals you can use the following method:

~=qdb.GetURL("targetdbid", "API_GenResultsTable^query={'12'.EX.'"+ field["Source Field"]+"'}^options=nvw.ned.phd.nfg.sortorder-A.groupby-V^slist=15");~

You'll need to replace

targetdbid
